I just had a quick look through this post on Reef Central....this guy is crazy but the stories are well worth a read if you have any spare time....

For those of you who don't know, Mantis shrimps are the most feared creatures in Reef Keeping....So feared, there are brave people out there that are willing to sacrafice fingers in order to keep these viscious monsters... no really.....just read...

lol, maybe I should do out my 15g and make it a Mantis tank, but only the small variety (2") as the larger variety (6") will probably smash the tank. I am glad though, that these are measured in inches and not feet!!! :o :o they would be number 1 predators

You said somewhere you lived in Japan for a bit.....and I know Spider crabs can get to about 2m in leg span and come from around there so I just took a guess..... I have handled a few smaller ones, about 2ft leg span but something that is 3-4ft in leg span would be awesome

not so awsome if they live round abouts where you go swimming and every now and then you see one being brough in by the fishermen... sometimes with bloody hands!

yeah, if you were on the receiving end of the claws it may not be so awesome after all... same with Mantis Shrimps lol It would be awesome to see though
