Few pics of Phant... Short for Phantom

Keep herptiles or something else which isn't a fish?

Sorry to knock the Newts off the top IBF but I really need to post these pictures up. Some of you may know about him and others may not but Phantom is....

.... a Corn snake :P I am not 100% sure on the age but I would hazard a guess at under 1 year old so he (I think) is still fairly young. I just fed him this morning so I thought it would be the ideal time to get some pics sorted. The lil guy is over 12in in length but I would say closer to 18in than 12in.

Sorry if you've just eaten, couldn't help it lol

ooohhh.. ello!
lovely Ratty you have there! What was the reasoning behind the name?

I would agree with the age. these lil guys are fairly similar to my milksnake. 5 ft size but more like 4ft.
he should be able to eat large mice when he is an old boy like Noodle. 4 yrs old soon.

Yeah I know he's eating it the wrong way round... I accidently dropped it and he went for it, I didn't really fancy trying to wrestle the mouse off him lol.

The reason behind the name... I would say it was because of his colouring, he is pretty much all grey except for the flashes of yellow that run about a quarter of the way down his sides.

with have, being a baby... has he nipped you get? at a guess he is CB so fairly tame?

pretty cool naming sense :)

*thinks* i need to feed my lil guy soon.

Yeah he has shed once so far, you can see a hint of blue/grey towards the front of his head so he should be getting to the "blue" stage of shedding once again.

Yeah he is CB so fairly tame, can be quite aggressive whilst getting ready to shed then calms down again after. I am still working on calming him down with regular handling.

my only tip would be holding him and gentle stroke his head... the more you can stroke the head without him kicking up a fuss the less he will worry about being picked up, flipped upside down to check the belly and beings semi prodded by your nan :)

the only aggressive thing from noodle was when he was near to shed and he saw my hand shaddow on the back wall and struck it.

At the moment he is only in temporary housing due to his size. Small snakes like small spaces so at the minute he is in a 12x8x8 critter keeper. once he hits about 20-24" he will be moved to a 36x15x18 melamine viv

Thanks again for the comments

I will have yeah, no pics yet but all I can add is that he is eating alot more lol.

Last time I fed Phant he took 2 pinks so he could be moving to the next size of mice soon. I have noticed an increase in growth speed now aswell with him eating more so this is a good thing... knowing my luck I will end up with a BIG corn lol

Thank you for reminding me, I have to get bigger foods. I found the cheapest way to do it is to find a supplier OUT of town. They get em dirt cheap, and you just send a small poly fish box and keep all the savings lol.
