This is Zi ( Zee )
We rescued her 4 months ago and she was well over weight ( 50 kg ) as you can see by this picture. She is not even 3 years old yet.

Lovely dog! Great work on the diet, she was just a little ....chubby? I take it the previous owners knew little about the exercise the malamute needed?

With her old owners she was lucky to get 1/2 hours excersise.

The stuff they were feeding her was not for her breed either. ( Bakers Complete )

In other words one of the most cheapest bag of rubbish dog food you can buy.

I have always wanted a Malamute. One day, most likely retirement, I'll get one. I just don't have the time required to spend with one ,or any breed for that matter. I Live in a great area for one, and have a nice sized backyard that buts up to a few hundred acres of woods, which can't be built on. I remember about 10 years ago I was Trout fishing in a river nearby. I turned around to see what looked at first to be a large pack of wolves. Then I noticed the tethers and about 15 people walking abreast behind. Must have been a club of some sort. It was one of the most memorable sites I have seen though. Another thing I found out just a few months ago. A recording of a Malamute was used for Chewbacca, from the Star Wars movies, and I think the dog was from NJ where I live.

Hey Fish Shed, can you throw some light on something for me?

Its been a few years since I stepped out of the show world, so my KC breed folder is a bit out of date.....

Was browsing through my local flog whatever you want paper (similar to loot, but run by the local paper) and hit on the livestock section where someone was trying to sell "Huskamute" pups for ?500 a time....

My initial reaction was that someone had an accident with a Husky and a Malamut and decided to see if they could make a quick buck out of it, but I was just wondering if this was a new/recognised breed?

Oh dear.... the real idiots are the ones who are going to pay ?500 for a cross breed...

But giving them fancy names is going to confuse the gullible. Accidental pups should be sold at reasonable prices, of free to good homes, already neutered....
