I have a phantom tetra who for the past 3 weeks or so has been swimming about as if he has a lead weight attached to his tail. He sort of swims along, bobbing up and down as he goes (imagine a speed boat traveling along, going over wave after wave, if that makes any sense to anyone?). He never seems to rest on the bottom of the tank, nor does he float to the top, he just gets on with things as normal. Is this some kind of swim bladder problem? It never seems to get any worse, nor any better. I kinda thought he'd have died by now, but he hasn't. Bless 'im! -_-

Sorry for the delay Dookie!

That does sound interesting, I understand what you're saying. How old are they?

If they're only a few months or so, I'd certainly suggest it's a genetic defect as it sounds like a deformity in either the muscles or the spine(normally from commercial in-breeding of small fish).

I'm not sure what it is otherwise. As is my usual recommendation, try him on some squished cooked peas; even if it doesn't change anything, they'll all enjoy it.

Let me know.

Yep, here. ;)
Thanks IBF. The peas didn't change him, I guess he's like that for life. Poor little ting.
