Wow! That looks like a really great store! Never seen those kind of things locally. What was in with the bala sharks? I found it hard to get scale....was it a halfbeak of some kind, or a baby gar?

WoooooW! Innes - that place is incredible! Our Lfs's are NOTHING like that! The turtles are so sweet (or are they terries? i'm not good with those...)
I loved the Lionfish too - I've not seen one as big as that in a Fs. We had a baby fuzzy lion in one store local to me.
But yea! My fave music - and ALL my fave fish! (And it served that shrimp right for being too nosy!) :woot:

Thanks everyone for your kind comments :D

KittyKat - lol they are horribly deformed, but then most of the customers seem to have little taste.

saracen - its a young spotted gar

Kev - I believe the crab your talking about is a Sally Lightfoot Crab

Quirlys - terrapins are a common name usually given to slider turtles (usually to red eared sliders I think) these turtles are red belly and yellow belly turtles (or so our supplier said)
the lionfish and niger trigger are not really very big.

Wahay Dobbies! It's the only decent shop in the area.

When did the rays and discus come in?

I don't know Innes - the Lion is still bigger than anything we've ever had down at my local stores.
Yay to the Turtles though - they are cute.

The lion is tiny compared to what you think it would be.

3-4 weeks? I was in speaking to Adam a couple of weeks ago. I musn't of seen them, I think I was in a hurry.

I just looked the Lion and the Triggers up. It is quite surpriseing to realise that a healthy adult can get to 15 inches with a span of 30 for those amazing fins.

I realise that the stores only sell baby ones, its the way it works, but I wonder how many people actually get to see these animals at full potential.

I love the Triggers. I saw a video of a Queen feeding, and boy was she.... enthusiastic? I really don't want to say vicious! The Niger will get over a foot long when it grows up. That store really has some amazing stock. Never have I seen a gar for sale, although that has got to be on my wish list for the "someday" tanks!

Thanks for sharing Innes!
