I recently brought this system for my fluval duo 800, I was just wondering if anyone uses co2 in their tanks and what system they use, heres some interesting info i put together for a review.
About this system, it has been designed to supply a aquarium with a safe, economical and efficient method of providing the plants with a carbon source for plants. In uses the natural fermentation process for co2 and eliminated the need for inconvenient pressurized cylinders.
The system allows quick easy and economical refills of ingredients of provide continuous co2 for a 3 - 4 week period. The special fermentation canister has been developed to support consistent carbon dioxide output.
Carbon Dioxide is the most easily assimilated carbon source for plants. Approximately 40 to 50% of dry weight composition of a plant is carbon.
Through the invigorated growth of aquatic plants, the aquarium owner can expect a higher degree of water quality. Many undesirable elements such as nitrates and phosphates are consumed by plants, providing a strategy that effectively starves algae, preventing and or controlling its growth.
CO2 benefits fish due to improved water quality, and also provides a safe and gradual method of reducing ph values. Many aquatic plants thrive in mildly acidic ph ranges, and suitable species of fish for planted aquariums often prefer these conditions.
I have to say there is marginal improvement in the growth of the plants, but think its more suited to a smaller tank, i dont use the packets of mixture you can buy, what a ripoff, and mix my own receipe using brewers yeast.
Right i think thats it, any questions, di
