*Journal* 2.5g Pico-Reef

…and everything smaller!

Haha, those are pretty amazing. I might have a job finding them though lol

Neon Gobies are also pretty cool, I could probably keep a pair/trio in there quite easily.

Edit: I will get some pictures of the hood thing once it is finished being put together (before I stain it)

:o Thats way too much IMO. Up here I can expect to pay £10-15 each for them depending where I got them from.

lol, There are a couple of Marine specialist LFS up here so things always tend to be cheaper there. But even the all round LFS have pretty decently priced stock in terms of marines

Well, payday is finally upon me so I can continue since the first few steps just about sucked me dry. I will be ordering the lighting tomorrow morning, that will be here next week so I can then carry on with the upgrade.

Once the hood/base thingy is finished I can then mount the lighting (4 x 18w Power Compact) and then add the Live Rock and leave it to cycle. I just need to take a few more pics to add to the journal before I go any further aswell :P

Sounds good. 4x18w PC's should work great. :)

heh, no such luck I am afraid. I was going to add the 4 x 18w because I didn't take the endcaps of the 24w into account so I had to go with 18w tubes because they are smaller.

BUT... (this is the real kick in the b**ls)

The company I was getting the 18w lights from has discontinued them (ASL) so I am kind of screwed right now.

I do have a solution though so not to worry. I will but doing a bit more DIY and making a sort of frame with 2 arms that come over the top of the tank and.... I will be hanging either a mini 150w Metal Halide or a mini 150w Metal Halide with actinics or a 70w. So yeah, because of this the SPS bug may just rear up and bite my @S$ :lol2:

*EDIT - I forgot to add, my parents don't want an open topped tank in the lounge (go figure) so the Killies are moving in downstairs along with a whole load of new plants and the 7.5g upgrade is going in my room :D :D

Sounds like a bit of progress, and like the idea of the bigger one in your room you can enjoy it more there if thats where your computer is.

Scratch that, I found someone who still has the 18w tubes in stock so I ordered some. That buys me just enough time so I can find something to replace them in about a years time. The 4 x 18w is back on, for now....

(I will be modifying a twin 36w ballast to run the 4 x 18w bulbs)
