this is also a 5 gal. what would you recommend? needs to be quite bright, but not blinding... the light i was using before was a tube suspended over the tank, but i've descided long time ago that when it breaks i'm getting a proper light lol

In my FW 5g I have the Hagen Waterhome 11w Lighting Kit, it is quite good, but you need to find somewere that sells the proper replacement bulbs. But in my 5g Nano-reef I have 24w T5 PC lighting which would be over-kill for a FW tank so just forget I said that  Anything aboiut 11w size would be fine, and it doesnt have to be anything special, just a white light.

it needs to be pretty bright cause the condensation glass gets covered in limescale within hours of being washed... becomes translucent insted of transparent...

Will an arcadia unit and tube not do? Or is it a lamp thing and not tubes? In which case I'll shut up.

Well then arcadias are pretty cheap and quite good. My set up for my 15gallon cost me about £20 or so.
